La petite mort

Barthes said that

one should experience this-

la petite mort-

when experiencing literature.

He said that it was the main goal.

Every time I orgasm

I think-

afterwards,

I am that much closer to dying.

My heart stops a little bit

I forget to breathe

and I think

that this is what it

feels like

to die.

Every time a person

leaves me-

I die a little.

Except the feeling

isn’t good. It’s almost always

terrible.

And my mind replays the

moments, when I saw the

grasp of la petite mort

and stumbleĀ  into the

cracks of the linoleum floor.

too hip to quit.
